Mock Chocolate Mousse

An expert on mousses would probably scream, seeing the below recipe. This may not be the real mousse - hence the name Mock Chocolate Mousse. This is part of a Tarla Dalal Dessert Recipe. Believe me, this elegant, easy, simple but tricky dessert can make a chocoholics day. Try it out if you are looking for a chocolaty indulgence.

Ingredients

1 Cup dark chocolate chips
1 Cup whipping cream(I use sweetened whipping cream,Rich's)
1 tablespoon milk

Whip the cream till it reaches the soft peak stage. Keep aside, let the whipped cream come to room temperature. Do not refrigerate as the cream will become cold.  Melt the chocolate with the milk in a double boiler or in a microwave. Cool . Fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream, making sure the air in the cream is retained.

Set in individual glasses. Decorate with chocolate shavings or other forms of chocolate decoration like chocolate leaves, chocolate cigars etc. Serve chilled.

Note: When melted chocolate is mixed into something cold, it will seize up and become lumpy. So ensure the whipped cream is not cold when you fold in the chocolate. Same thing when hot chocolate is mixed into cream. Right temperature of the two ingredients is imperative to make this dessert successfully.

Do not leave the melted chocolate sitting for more than a few minutes as it will become hard and you would need to melt it again.
