Eat your Heart Out

I popped along to Cake Britain last week. Billed as the World's first ever edible art exhibition it was an interesting way to spend half an hour in central London on a Saturday afternoon, although I was a little disappointed that the cake pop tree by Molly Bakes wasn't there due to people scoffing it at the launch on the Thursday night!

My favourite piece was by Crumbs and Doilies which was based on some burger art by Jon Burgerman (above). I thought they were incredibly creative and tweeted Crumbs and Doilies to see if there were plans to sell similar cakes as I really liked them. They said something along the lines of watch this space so fingers crossed you can eat a burger cake sometime soon.

Other cakes featured included some eye cupcakes from Bea's of Bloomsbury and the edible goodies you can see below, including a rather gory garden from Lily Vanilli - can you spot the finger?

Miss Cakehead is planning an adults only shop called Eat your Heart Out at the Maiden store in Shoreditch High St where the theme is billed as "uncomfortable" Halloween - think Human Centipede cakes and period cupcakes (nice!).

Their aim is to sell 666 cupcakes a day and are looking for submissions of really messed up, cutting edge cakes for adults that horrify. If you have a gruesome cake idea you can contact Miss Cupcake via the website.

horray for cake!
